Medieval-fantasy necklace pendants

Well, this weekend I took a little break from the macabre with my Victorian planchettes, when I found myself inspired to make these new medieval-themed necklace pendants. I was listening to some beautiful instrumental music while browsing Pinterest and suddenly, I had to do this. :D

I'm really loving these and honestly don't want to get rid of them, lol! I just keep telling myself that I can always make myself another one later on if I still really want it. :D

Each of these is currently available for sale in my Etsy shop:
www.Etsy.com/shop/MidsummersNightMasq

Each of these pendants is handcrafted from polymer clay. They each feature various iridescent glass bubble-like beads.  The Seahorse and Unicorn pendants are decorated with genuine freshwater pearls.

This design features 2 Dryad lovers embracing and kissing. I love this design, it's so sweet and beautiful. :)

I'm in LOVE with the angle of this shot, turned out Beautifully!!!    I used a metal tree-branch connector for the top of this pendant and really like the effect.  I've always used them in a set of 2 but using just the one, has a really impactful effect. :D

This Red Unicorn pendant turned out soo beautifully! I think I was channeling the medieval Unicorn Tapestries when I was creating this one. :D   I feel like the red of the unicorn really POPS against the golden teal of the background. :)

If you like mermaids, this one is definitely up your alley. :)  I've been itching to include some of my freshwater pearls in a piece and this was the perfect opportunity.   The background of this piece was supposed to be a pearly white, but somehow turned out looking a bit more 'Mother of Pearl', but I really really like the effect. :)

Now this one isn't offered in my Etsy shop. This one is just for me. It's a small piece on a very thin and delicate silver chain.  I'd been thinking about creating something like this for myself for a few days before I finally sat and just did it.   I was originally just planning to create the crescent moon, but I had this Goddess charm sitting around and it was a perfect match. :D

Roughly two weeks ago now I sat down at my clay table and started making these really magical mini-Fairy Door pendants.

-I've seen all manner of Fairy Doors to decorate your home or your child's bedroom with, or even your garden.  But I thought it would be really wonderful if you could 'wear' the magic of a Fairy Door with you everywhere you go!

I'm the kind of artist who doesn't tend to make something she herself wouldn't want to buy or wear.   So everything you see me make is something I actually want for myself.
Lol, my Greenman Mushrooms and Fairy Frogs have been self-claimed for my home, if that tells you anything. :D

Now, as I've stated in a recent post, I have a Patreon acct. I've been posting my work-in-progress photos and even a tutorial there.  So, if you want to see my work-in-progress shots and read me talking about my process or whatever, if you like seeing behind the scenes shots which periodically show my work-space and so forthe, and if you'd like to be privvy to any discount codes to my Etsy shop, I suggest you check out my Patreon and Follow me there. :)

And now, for the mini Fairy Door pendants!!

I'm currently selling these in my Etsy shop: www.Etsy.com/shop/MidsummersNightMasq

I've got another 6 mini Fairy Door pendants ready to be baked soon. But the oven is currently down for the count, as it were...really hoping it'll get fixed soon, though.

Visit me on Patreon!

www.Patreon.com/TheMidsummersNightMasquerade

I am now on Patreon!   I will be posting most of my work on Patreon from now on. This includes, my blogging...which is pretty much me musing out-loud about ideas and thoughts and that sort of thing... photos of my work-in-progress...stuff I'm working on, shots as I go.... any 'behind the scenes' kind of stuff, lots of up-close 'detail' pics of my art which you may not see anywhere else, and future videos I hope to soon be making of my art and progress. As well as, the periodic sale codes for my Etsy shop, which only my Patreon Supporters will be able to access.

Here's the deal...  I've got a page set up on Facebook, but with Facebook's algorithms, even though I am closing in on 700 Followers, hardly anyone is seeing my posts. Which is EXTREMELY disappointing and upsetting to me, of course, and hopefully to those who have chosen to follow my art, too.

With Patreon you are able to see each and every post I make and if you decide to become a Patron of my art, which enables you to help support me in making more and better art content, then you are privvy to the above-mentioned 'work-in-progress' posts, which also includes up-coming tutorials, too.   These are the Rewards a Patron would receive in helping to support my art...access to "behind the scenes" stuff! :D

You can donate anywhere from $1 a month to $10, or more. It's entirely up to you, the Patron, and you can stop and cancel whenever you want with no problems or guilt. However much you can afford is greatly appreciated. :)

You don't 'have' to pay to see my art, of course...I post it on my Facebook and Instagram and periodically even to my Pinterest and Deviantart. BUT, the 'behind the scenes' content will be staying solely on Patreon very soon. I'm working on getting everything switched over as I go. And all the bonus Rewards stuff will 'only' be accessible to my Patreon Supporters. So there are all sorts of benefits to Following my art on Patreon vs anywhere else.
Plus, if you have questions or want to comment, you can do it right on the post and I'll be able to answer you back quickly. :D

Feel free to drop in and say Hi! on Patreon, and whether you choose to become a Supporter or not, you are always welcome to hang out and see what I'm posting to the public, too! :)

Faery Lanterns

I haven't posted in a while, but I've been busy. Always creating!!

With the recent new Fairy Jars I was struck with inspiration. I took that idea and added my own twist to it. Faery Lanterns!   My Faery Lanterns are decorated with handsculpted polymer clay accents.  A friend recently commented that in adding these additional clay details, I've created a scene in which the Fairy lives, and not just a jar for her to be captured in.
-This was really neat as I wasn't conscious of this effect 'till she had pointed it out.

I had the idea shortly after watching a YouTube video of Pixie Hill's Fairy Jars and then later a polymer clay video which used these lovely little lantern jars. Inspiration just about knocked me out of my chair!!
-I immediately set to scribbling down notes full of ideas for my own Faery Lanterns and I was thrilled once I had all of my supplies in hand and was ready to start on my first one.  And they have each turned out beautifully!

My very first one:

I was really happy with how this one turned out, it was so cute!!

And then I had to create a 2nd one:

With each new one, I wanted to try something new, something a bit different than the one before.  So, the 3rd one...I wanted to try some color and a lot more detail:

-My first ever try at sculpting Foxglove blossoms.

-And my first ever Fairy Frog!

Each of these lanterns have since sold, but I am currently working on 2 more Faery Lantern commissions and have an idea for a 3rd, soon after.

These are absolutely adorable and make for fantastic night-lights in children's bedrooms, or even as a cute and whimsical touch to a home. :)

Watch my Etsy shop for up-coming lanterns!

"The Luna Moth Fairy Pendant"
-I created this gorgeous large statement-piece necklace pendant right before Christmas. It's a One of a Kind, handmade item.  I made the wings from a combination of transparent liquid polymer clay, pearlescent pigments and glitters, and a high-quality iridescent film, accented with AB crystal rhinestones.  The metal jewelry pieces are hand painted with a selection of acrylic paints and iridescent interference art mediums, and accented with hanging crystals at the bottom.  This pendant is 5" in length by 5.5" across from wing tip to wing tip at the very top.

I'm very proud of this piece and want to make more large pendants in similar styles and themes. I may even try reproducing this same design, but being handmade, there will be differences, of course.

I'm really happy with how beautifully the photos with the teapot turned out...especially due to all the elements that went into producing them. I used a large pair of my iridescent fairy wings to help redirect sunlight, from the window above and behind this setup, onto the pendant.  -Something that just happened on a whim, but worked out great. :)
I was lucky to just happen to have this old silver teapot sitting around, which I'd picked up from a Goodwill earlier this year.  It turned out to be a beautiful photo prop.

I have it for sale right now in my Etsy shop, right here: Luna Moth Fairy Pendant on Etsy

My BIG news!! - Faerie Magazine...

Ok, this is my 'last' post for now, lol!!!

I had mentioned my Big news a couple of posts back...  but first, if you haven't yet taken a look at my Tooth Fairy bags post, please go do so now. Don't worry, I'll wait. :D

Ok, SOooooo   Faerie Magazine is now selling my Tooth Fairy bags through their website!!!! :D    They were directed to my etsy page and really liked my Tooth Fairy bags and contacted me immediately.  They sold out of the first 8 I sent them pretty quickly and then at their request I made them a custom design for the Tooth Fairy "Faery Wish" coins. Something different from the Tooth Fairy coins I sell through my own Etsy shop.

I'm really excited over this as I have been a long-time fan of their beautiful magazines and have often dreamt of selling my artwork through their magazine -though I always imagined I'd be buying ad space vs selling directly through their website like this. Even better! :D   I feel like this is a really fantastic opportunity for me and am 'incredibly' flattered over their attention to my Tooth Fairy bags. :)

So in my last post I showed my own Tooth Fairy bags which I sell through my own Etsy shop.  Here are the ones I am selling through Faerie Magazine. Everything is exactly the same, the only difference is the Faery Wish coin has a different design on one side. This design is exclusive to Faery Magazine for as long they sell my coins through their site.

-Everything from the last post regarding my own Tooth Fairy bags applies the same here, except that you can't request to have your child's name personally addressed in the Tooth Fairy letter.  But what you see in this bottom photo is what you get. ONE 'Faery Wish' coin per Tooth Fairy bag.

Now, the pics below are some 'behind the scenes' pics as I was making them..

-This is a mixed pile of coins...here they've only been painted and blackened for an aged effect. I actually like this look, but they are a lot prettier with the color pearlescent pigments added.

-These next few are the same custom Tooth Fairy coin design for Faerie Magazine, but just showing some different colorings.

And lastly... here's a large order I mailed out to Faerie Magazine yesterday afternoon:

They are 'currently' out of stock at the Faerie Magazine site 'till they receive this box, but you can check it out here:

Thanks! :)
