Steampunk: Wing Pack WIP -part 2

Still working on the painting...it's been put aside for the time being in favor of me finishing these wings first...then I'll finish up with the wing pack.  Still working on a name for this...but gotta decide it's theoretical function, first.

-a test spot for removing black paint using acetone.  Undecided...

I went back over with black paint for the aging process...to be removed later:

I had plans of getting some glowing tubes to attach to this...but running low on time and money, so we'll see. That may end up being something to happen in time for Halloween instead of for the party this Sat.

Steampunk: Wings WIP -part 3

Sadly, I haven't gotten as much work done on these as I'd been hoping to, but definitely getting closer to being done with them:

-my kitty, Indy, sitting on my wing... ;D

-I'm using floral wire and literally hand-stitching the wire mesh to the frame.  This step is taking longer than I'd expected and is a literal pain, too.:/    But worth it.:)

Steampunk: Finished top hat and goggles

NOW these are totally finished.  I had left the chain on there when I first put together the brooch pendant with the thought of adding a small clock to it and finally here it is.:)  Really happy with it.:D
-There are definitely flaws I see, but for my first hat, I'm really proud of it.    I just need to add some padding to the inside so it'll better fit my head, especially with the goggles' extra weight on the brim...but otherwise, this is all finished.:)

*and I didn't like leaving the ends of the lace just tied in a knot, so I finally added these decorative filigree cones just to give them a nice 'finish'. :)

With the goggles:

 And the goggles:

Steampunk: Bustle Skirt WIP -part 1

This is the one rarity....an article of my costume that I am NOT actually making myself:
My bustle-skirt, still a work-in-progress.  A friend of mine has brought her sewing dummy over to my apt and currently has the fabric partially draped.   This fabric is the remnants from a bedskirt of mine...she's taken out the black middle/filler fabric and here we're just using the actual skirt part.
Under the bustle skirt I have a 2nd hand purse I picked up at Goodwill and this has been stuffed with the leftover fabric from the bedskirt. This will puff up the skirt in the Victorian style.

*I saw an image online of a woman wearing ornate tassles down the back of her bustle skirt...and I loved it, so I picked up some tassles on sale at Hobby Lobby to achieve a similar affect:

My friend is hoping to have this totally finished by tonight.

Here's a link to the tutorial I followed on using a purse under the bustle skirt: http://makingmakesmylife.blogspot.co.nz/2012/08/how-to-make-no-sew-bustle-pad-from-80s.html
-But I'm going to see about having the purse sewn into the bustle skirt to make it all one permanent piece.
