New planchette necklace photos

Today is the last day to get 20% off of your Ouija planchette necklace when you use Etsy coupon code OUIJA20 at checkout.  Good only on the ouija planchette necklaces.

I recently took some new pics of my planchettes. Really wanted a more 'professional' feel to these pieces. A backdrop to do them justice. :)

I 'really' like this set-up, it feels a lot more fitting for the style and theme of these planchettes. The brown satin of the backdrop and the black velvet of the display, gorgeous. Like chocolate, lol! :D

Remember to use Etsy coupon code OUIJA20 to save 20% on your planchette necklace order.

Let me know what you think. Too dark? Just right? :)

Roughly two weeks ago now I sat down at my clay table and started making these really magical mini-Fairy Door pendants.

-I've seen all manner of Fairy Doors to decorate your home or your child's bedroom with, or even your garden.  But I thought it would be really wonderful if you could 'wear' the magic of a Fairy Door with you everywhere you go!

I'm the kind of artist who doesn't tend to make something she herself wouldn't want to buy or wear.   So everything you see me make is something I actually want for myself.
Lol, my Greenman Mushrooms and Fairy Frogs have been self-claimed for my home, if that tells you anything. :D

Now, as I've stated in a recent post, I have a Patreon acct. I've been posting my work-in-progress photos and even a tutorial there.  So, if you want to see my work-in-progress shots and read me talking about my process or whatever, if you like seeing behind the scenes shots which periodically show my work-space and so forthe, and if you'd like to be privvy to any discount codes to my Etsy shop, I suggest you check out my Patreon and Follow me there. :)

And now, for the mini Fairy Door pendants!!

I'm currently selling these in my Etsy shop: www.Etsy.com/shop/MidsummersNightMasq

I've got another 6 mini Fairy Door pendants ready to be baked soon. But the oven is currently down for the count, as it were...really hoping it'll get fixed soon, though.

"The Luna Moth Fairy Pendant"
-I created this gorgeous large statement-piece necklace pendant right before Christmas. It's a One of a Kind, handmade item.  I made the wings from a combination of transparent liquid polymer clay, pearlescent pigments and glitters, and a high-quality iridescent film, accented with AB crystal rhinestones.  The metal jewelry pieces are hand painted with a selection of acrylic paints and iridescent interference art mediums, and accented with hanging crystals at the bottom.  This pendant is 5" in length by 5.5" across from wing tip to wing tip at the very top.

I'm very proud of this piece and want to make more large pendants in similar styles and themes. I may even try reproducing this same design, but being handmade, there will be differences, of course.

I'm really happy with how beautifully the photos with the teapot turned out...especially due to all the elements that went into producing them. I used a large pair of my iridescent fairy wings to help redirect sunlight, from the window above and behind this setup, onto the pendant.  -Something that just happened on a whim, but worked out great. :)
I was lucky to just happen to have this old silver teapot sitting around, which I'd picked up from a Goodwill earlier this year.  It turned out to be a beautiful photo prop.

I have it for sale right now in my Etsy shop, right here: Luna Moth Fairy Pendant on Etsy

Steampunk: Brooch/Choker WIP -part 2

Doing a little bit of combining here...

First up, working on a decorative piece to put on my hat with the feathers....this is what I've got so far:

-It's going to have some aged pen nubs and clock hands coming out from the backside of it, and when I'm ready for it, the feathers under all that.
I've already started painting on the clock hands and pen nubs. I'm going to had a green/blue patina to the larger two clock hands for some contrast.

And the choker-necklace. I've removed the gems and glued down the other set of gears. Here's how it now looks:

I'm much happier with this now than with the gems.  Hopefully this will wear quite nicely. I think it will. :)

Steampunk: Necklace-choker and Brooch WIP -part 1

In my 'research' (i.e.- googling and Pinterest for reference images) I noticed various ladies wearing lovely chokers around their necks...well, I don't actually 'have' anything like that, so I decided to make my own:

Right now I'm nearly done with this, but I'll go ahead and post my Work-In-Progress pics up to this point:

I saw the large, black ruffle lace and went from there. So this choker is made of 3 different lace styles all in black and brown:

-All glued together with Aileen's clear craft glue.

I bought two different pendants, I just couldn't decide...so I went with both. The girl's silhouette is, of course, far more Victorian...and the 2nd pendant with the gem looks more 'art nouveau', but together...they look really nice.

It took me a while to decide on how I wanted to do the enclosure..I thought about possibly hook'n'eye clasps, or an ornate button, even a metal clasp with a chain...but I finally decided upon just an eyelet to lace closed:

-The bias tape on the edges is hand sewn on.

I was looking at my gears and stuff and decided that I wasn't done with the decorative brooch area, so I started playing and came up with this:

I really like this.  But then I thought that maybe I should add in some crystal gems I've got:

The more I'm looking at it though...not sure I'm liking the gems...

I think I'm going to go with no gems, afterall....not liking it so much and I like it better plain.

Feather earrings

Anyone who knows me knows that I hate to jump on band-wagons or "go with the crowd".
I was really interested in the feathers in the hair when I first saw Steven Tyler on American Idol sporting them last year, then 'everyone' and their dog (literally) started wearing them and I decided that I wasn't going to be a part of it.
And the feather earrings have come back around into style again...at first I resisted those, but I've been seeing some 'really' gorgeous one of late. While in Estes Park last month I saw some BEAUTIFUL pairs, but they wanted $35 to $50 -'after' the sale markdown. Fuck that, I can make these myself.

So, now I am. Yes, I have joined a band-wagon, I do realize...but right now I don't care. These are fun to make and I'm enjoying myself. I also enjoying wearing them.:)
I don't have access to a huge selection of exotic feathers, but I'm doing my best with what I've got.

So here are pics. of my first two pairs of handmade feather earrings:

close-up of the 'jewelry':

And I made these in the same night:

Close-up:

I have an idea for some red-toned earrings next. I have some dyed rooster tail and pheasant feathers sitting around along with several different shades of dyed duck feathers. Today I bought some more feathers off of ebay, and just a little while ago I stopped in a bead store downtown and picked up some more cones for the tips, and some AWESOME iridescent green beetle shell wings to add to some pairs here and there.

Even if I don't sell any, just wear them myself...I'm having a good time.:) It is a pain making them, but it's just getting the hang of it that can be 'trying'...and I've learned a few things here and there through trial and error with my first two pairs, so that helps.:)

Looking around on etsy.com at the feather earrings there, I'm inspired...wish I could find more feathers...I'm thinking of hitting up some fishing stores soon for feathers they sell for fishing lores, perhaps I could re-purpose them for my jewelry and masks.:)
I don't know if this is a good price-point or not...it seems to be about average for the size and amount of feathers + jewelry I've got, but how does $25 sound?

Thoughts?
